JOBLINGE alumna: Marshet Wondird – dental assistant

Working with people every day and being able to help them is what Marshet Wondird enjoys most about her job.
Here she talks about how she got there.
Marshet is one of ten JOBLINGE alumni that we are presenting on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of JOBLINGE gAG Leipzig.

“I wanted to find a job and then registered with JOBLINGE Kompass in Leipzig.
I spent six months there learning a lot: language, career preparation, job applications, technology – lots of different things.
It was a lot of fun!

At first I didn’t know the profession of dental assistant.
JOBLINGE introduced me to it and made me lots of job offers.
I then chose this profession.
At first I wanted to be a nurse or an accountant.
But it’s not that easy to learn these professions, you need a high school diploma or another school-leaving qualification.
But I didn’t have a certificate from my home country.

My mentor at JOBLINGE helped me a lot with my applications, we practiced job interviews and she also helped me with presentations during my apprenticeship.
We also thought together about how I could manage vocational school.
She’s like a good friend to me!

The path to graduation was not easy for me.
In a medical profession, you have to pay attention to a lot of things and meet many requirements such as hygiene awareness, dexterity, you have to be sociable, service-oriented and responsible when preparing hygiene.
And you have to work precisely.
I also had to learn a lot of theory at vocational school and then prepare for the intermediate and final exams.
I worked hard for the exams and then did well!

In my job, I work with people and can help them with their dental pain – I enjoy that.
I think it’s very important to do an apprenticeship because many companies ask if you have completed vocational training.
You can find a job more quickly with an apprenticeship.”
