The JOBLINGE program

In the six-month JOBLINGE program, young people learn important social and job skills in group projects, receive guidance on their own strengths and suitable professions before gaining practical experience in JOBLINGE partner companies and examining their career choices.
JOBLINGE is usually commissioned by job centers and the Federal Employment Agency to support the young people – the actual length of stay is significantly shorter than the maximum supported length of stay.
On average, JOBLINGE needs 3-4 months to place young adults in training or work.

The path to Placement

The placement process at JOBLINGE is standardized throughout Germany. Young adults are made aware of us by our public sector partners (job center or employment agency) and take part in an information event; participation in the JOBLINGE program is only voluntary.

01

Admission phase

The participants, who come to JOBLINGE via the local employment agencies or job centers, work on a charitable project and thus “earn” their admission into the program. In the group, the young people renovate children’s homes, clean the city park or animal pens at the zoo or support charitable institutions.

02

Orientation phase

The aim of the orientation phase is for the young people to find an occupational field that suits them and prepare for an apprenticeship in it.
Intensive discussions and reflection with JOBLINGE employees as well as taster days in companies help them find a career.
The mentors also meet with “their” young people during this phase.
At the same time, the young adults learn about their strengths in entrepreneurial projects and acquire key qualifications.

03

Practical phase

During a qualification internship at a JOBLINGE partner company, young people gain their first professional experience.
They acquire professional and social skills in the company and in training sessions and test their career aspirations in practice.

04

Trial phase in training

The participants work with a partner company to find their apprenticeship or job.
If they meet the previously agreed requirements, they have made it.

05

Accompanying phase

The employees and mentors remain contact persons for the participants and also for the company partners in the follow-up phase.
Until the end of the apprenticeship, the JOBLINGE training mentor provides support with personal problems and also offers training and workshops for apprentices as well as specialist seminars and exchanges for trainers.

What makes the JOBLINGE program special?

We have been presenting the JOBLINGE concept transparently to all interested parties since our foundation.
Because we believe that there is no secret recipe as to why we are effective.

01

Strengths-oriented instead of deficit-oriented

We focus on the strengths that our participants bring with them and what they can do. We offer commitment, but we also expect commitment from the young adults. Practical companies introduce themselves directly to our groups, young adults are given career guidance here, in company visits and by our experts, and test their career aspirations in internships. For people with a refugee background, experts at JOBLINGE Kompass offer job-related language qualifications.
02

Expertise with a refugee background

Despite integration courses and vocational preparation classes, many young refugees are unable to make the step into the job market on their own. In 2016, we developed the JOBLINGE Kompass program elements specifically for young refugees with work permits. Job-related language training, intercultural awareness and specially trained mentors are now part of the regular JOBLINGE concept, and in 2022 we launched the work4u program specifically for refugees from Ukraine.

03

Mentoring

All our participants receive personal, voluntary mentors as role models, motivators and confidants.
Mentors are an important factor in not giving up during difficult phases.

04

New challenges

In the cultural program, music, theater or art workshops create a uniquely challenging situation for the participants.
In the protected environment of the group, they work on important career-relevant skills.
Performing on stage – often as a prelude to the group’s first meeting with their mentors – provides an important boost to their perceived self-efficacy.
The impact of the cultural program has been scientifically proven.

05

Sustainable support

Our primary goal is to find the right placement into an apprenticeship or job. But we also continue to provide support afterwards: with JOBLINGE training support – experts who act as contact persons for young people and companies.

JOBLINGE Compass

JOBLINGE Kompass is aimed specifically at young people with a refugee background who need special support when entering the German job market.
The program is structured like the classic program, but also includes intensive language support and provides participants with important skills for a successful professional future.
Young people are prepared intensively and precisely for their entry into working life.

The JOBLINGE Kompass expertise is now being implemented in inclusive groups in many regions, where the target group composition permits.
Whether separate or integrative groups: Our Kompass expertise means language development in a professional context as well as motivation and knowledge for the topic of training for all participants.
