What does JOBLINGE do?
JOBLINGE is a non-profit organization that supports young people in finding an apprenticeship. Our work is based on three pillars: Activation with PLAN A, placement with our JOBLINGE program and support with our basecamps. PLAN A and activation means that we approach young people directly in street speeches and social media campaigns, the JOBLINGE program includes preparation and placement into an apprenticeship and we support young adults during their apprenticeship with our basecamps.
How do you become a participant?
Anyone between the ages of 15 and 27 who is registered as looking for work or an apprenticeship is eligible. Talk to your contact person at the employment agency or job center or get in touch with us directly.
What is a non-profit stock corporation (gAG)?
In contrast to conventional stock corporations, the shareholders of a non-profit AG receive an ideal dividend: They participate because they want to get involved, not to make a profit.
The shareholder representatives volunteer as members of the Management Board or Supervisory Board of JOBLINGE gAG.
What is a social franchise company?
The national JOBLINGE umbrella organization in Munich is the “franchisor”.
This means that it designs and drives the JOBLINGE program forward.
The local locations are “franchisees” and implement the concept by working directly with the young people.
JOBLINGE is one of the first “social” franchise organizations in Germany.
“Social” because the commitment to young people is at the heart of the work – and the concept is awarded to the locations free of charge.
In addition to the JOBLINGE Foundation, the gAGs are also shareholders in the umbrella organization.
Is JOBLINGE part of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG)?
JOBLINGE was founded in 2008 by the management consultancy Boston Consulting Group and the Eberhard von Kuehnheim Foundation of BMW AG in order to sustainably integrate disadvantaged young people in the transition system into the labor market.
The Eberhard von Kuehnheim Foundation (now the BMW Foundation) withdrew from the operational role in 2012.
Kadim Tas is the chairman of the JOBLINGE umbrella organization and the overall initiative.
Is JOBLINGE a measure?
JOBLINGE is an initiative: it is a motivator, a supporter, an opportunity provider.
We see ourselves as a company and work as such.
What counts for us is the impact of the work – i.e. the genuine placement of young people in training and work.
However, as many participants come to us via the job centers, we are also known there as a “measure”.
Is JOBLINGE a training provider?
JOBLINGE is an initiative.
We see ourselves as a company and work as such.
We focus on placing young people in training and work.
Therefore, we do not see ourselves as an educational institution.
Where can you find JOBLINGE?
From Hamburg to Berlin to Munich, Frankfurt or Cologne: JOBLINGE is available at over 32 locations throughout Germany.
Where does the name "JOBLINGE" come from?
“JOBLINGE” is a term of art and is made up of “apprentice” and “job”.
Financing
How is JOBLINGE financed?
JOBLINGE is a non-profit organization with public-private co-financing: around 65 percent of the funding comes from public funds and around 35 percent from donations from companies and private individuals.
The proportion of funding depends on local funding conditions and varies from location to location.
Why is JOBLINGE dependent on donations?
Many of our participants come to us via the Jobcenter, which means that a certain part of the JOBLINGE program is secured through this public funding.
However, the funding criteria are strict: new projects such as the basecamps or PLAN A, workshops of the cultural and sports program or central tasks such as communication, marketing, partner programs and much more have to be constantly financed by ourselves through fundraising.
How does the state support JOBLINGE?
Our closest partner is the public sector: the employment agencies and job centers.
Together, we work to activate and orient young people who have been unemployed for a long time and get them into training and work.
Public funding is an important part of our support.
How do companies support JOBLINGE?
Whether as a donor, training company or mentor: Companies support JOBLINGE in a variety of ways.
Without our large and constantly growing corporate network of over 4,000 companies, we would not be able to implement our program the way we do.
Social necessity
Unemployment figures are low, why are there so many young people without training?
The number of young adults without a vocational qualification is increasing.
There are various reasons for this: wrong choice of training occupation or no orientation, poor grades, little support from family or friends and many other challenges.
In times of a shortage of skilled workers, JOBLINGE tries to help young people with difficult starting conditions find a suitable apprenticeship or job.
Why do these young people need help?
Whether it’s a complicated home life, a difficult social environment, no fixed structures or personal problems: everyone carries their “own baggage”.
JOBLINGE supports young people who could do with long-term and varied support and enables them to discover their talents – and use them in the right job.
What is the "transition system"?
School is over and then what?
Many graduates don’t know what path to take after school.
Some have no school-leaving certificate at all.
As a result, the transition between school and vocational training is not always seamless.
They then find themselves in the “transition system”, in which they are to be prepared for entry into working life in so-called vocational training measures.
Why does JOBLINGE have a program specifically for refugees?
Work creates long-term prospects and, last but not least, work is essential for integration.
In our Kompass program, we specifically support young refugees with language courses and intensive orientation on the dual system as well as company visits and internships so that they are well prepared when looking for an apprenticeship.
Program
What distinguishes JOBLINGE from similar initiatives?
We focus on the impact of our work.
The participants are at the forefront and the goal is always: training.
We act as a trial employer.
From day one, we focus on practical experience: company visits, workshops in and with companies and internships.
With us, every young person is assigned a personal mentor.
People who are in the middle of their professional lives and support the participants.
Our partner network consists of over 4,000 companies nationwide – and is constantly growing.
In addition to public institutions.
Only bundled commitment works.
We also attach great importance to the evaluation and impact of our own work – transparent quotas and finances.
Especially towards our cooperation partners.
Our annual report provides information on all facts and successes and is prepared in accordance with the Social Reporting Standard.
What is the difference between classic and compass?
In contrast to the Klassik program, Kompass participants receive targeted job-related language training and intercultural awareness.
The Kompass program is otherwise based on the same pedagogical and didactic concept as the Klassik program.
What is charitable project work?
At the start of each new JOBLINGE group, the participants prove themselves in a charitable project lasting several days.
Whether painting walls in a children’s home, cleaning the city park or renovating the playground: With the charitable project work, we awaken the right attitude and basic motivation in the young people – and last but not least, the good feeling remains: having done something meaningful for others.
Why does JOBLINGE offer cultural and sports programs?
“Why should I play theater or soccer now?”
Those who were particularly sceptical at first praise the cultural and sports program afterwards.
This is because the young people learn important key skills here: engaging with the unknown, overcoming prejudices and boundaries – and showing team spirit.
What do the mentors do?
Our mentors provide encouragement, motivation, support and a sympathetic ear: During the search for an apprenticeship and often beyond, they accompany their mentee as a contact person.
The young people benefit from the knowledge and experience of their mentors.
Who can become a mentor?
Anyone who has the time and desire to volunteer for young people for six months.
Ideally, the mentors are already working and can therefore share their experiences with our participants.
The mentors meet young people with completely different starting conditions, backgrounds and lifestyles – mentoring is an impressive enrichment for both sides.
How can I participate in the program?
Simply find the right program and contact person here, enter your details and we’ll get back to you.
It’s also very quick!
What is the MINT program?
With our STEM program, we get our participants excited about careers in the fields of math, information, natural sciences and technology (STEM for short).
It consists of two pillars: The “Math as a Mission” learning app and the STEM workshops.
What is the Steilpass program?
More than 5,000 young players dream of one thing: becoming a professional footballer.
But what happens if a professional career doesn’t work out?
Vocational training is an important second pillar – with Steilpass, we support young footballers in their professional orientation, the search for an apprenticeship or the placement of internships.
