Training where others go on vacation

“Today I can say that I have found what I was looking for. To this day, there hasn’t been a single day when I’ve regretted my decision to drop out of university and do an apprenticeship.”

Max Rosinke, a former participant in the JOBLINGE program in Hamburg, is currently training to become a hotel specialist – in a 5-star hotel on Sylt.
He moved from Hamburg to the island in the North Sea especially for his apprenticeship in 2020.
And not only has he found his dream job here – as a trainee spokesperson, he also acts as an intermediary between the 18 trainees and the hotel’s management and, as an active member of the trainee crew, he keeps in touch with the 60 or so trainees across Sylt during his training period.

Dropped out of university – and then?
It all started with a decision: At the age of 23, Max dropped out of his economics degree in Lüneburg.
“I realized that studying didn’t suit me – and that studying in general wasn’t for me.”
Instead, his interest in an apprenticeship grew: Max moved back to Hamburg, registered as a job seeker and was made aware of the JOBLINGE initiative by his job center mediator.
With regard to the many company contacts of gAG Hanse and the upcoming application process, he says: “That was definitely the more elegant way. I was happy about the support from JOBLINGE.”

And then came Corona
After a few internships and conversations with friends, it was clear: Max wanted to train as a hotel specialist.
He made his first contacts through JOBLINGE.
With his mentor – who is a hotel specialist herself – he clarified all the questions about hotel management training, updated his application documents and practiced job interviews.
And then came Corona.
In view of the situation in the tourism sector, Hamburg’s hotels were hailing rejections.
So he came up with the idea of applying for a job on Sylt – and started his apprenticeship at the 5-star hotel after completing an internship.
He will complete his training in 2023.

Trust in the expertise of gAG Hanse
Reception, restaurant and bar, housekeeping and office: during his training, Max works in the various areas of the hotel.
He has a five-minute commute to work every day and, above all, enjoys working in a place where other people go on vacation.
He has never regretted dropping out of university and joining JOBLINGE, he says.
On the contrary, he is happy about the expertise of gAG Hanse: “Everyone in my group who honestly wanted to make it found an apprenticeship. JOBLINGE gave us the tools we needed – even if some were skeptical at first: for example, the fact that we had to choose three potential job profiles, even though some knew what they wanted right from the start. But the JOBLINGE team doesn’t say things like that for no reason, they simply know what they’re doing.”

JOBLINGE Impact Area – the PLAN A numbers!

PLAN A has been impressively successful – several thousand young people have already registered since 2023! But what’s behind these figures? Here we explain how PLAN A reaches young people who would otherwise fall through the cracks and the role our innovative approach plays in this. 5.000 young people registered with PLAN A since 2023! More and more young people have no training and are increasingly difficult to reach. Around 628,000 young people are not in education, training or employment and remain lost in the school-to-work transition as they are difficult for the system to reach (so-called NEETs). However, PLAN A addresses young people where they actually are – on the street or on social media. Because at JOBLINGE, our primary goal is to help as many young people as possible into training and the world of work in the long term. To achieve this goal, we take various approaches
