From Hamburg to Munich: Once a quarter, we present all the latest developments, highlights and topics from our JOBLINGE locations.
Find out what our colleagues and participants are up to here!
gAG Leipzig:
gAG Leipzig has recorded the second successful group start of the year in the JOBLINGE Kompass program.
More than 100 invitations from self-acquisition and cooperation with the job center and 66 individual interviews ultimately led to 21 motivated participants.
A successful digital training fair with partner companies was also offered again in April.
More than 50 speed dating meetings resulted in numerous follow-up discussions, internship agreements and specific training offers.
The participating companies unanimously gave positive feedback on the preparations for the fair.
The JOBILNGE Klassik Group kicked off June with a social day at BMW with a tour of the plant and job application training – a big thank you to the employees of the BMW plant in Leipzig.
Another highlight in Leipzig was the graduation event of the STEM enthusiasm initiative TechTeens.
For over 160 guests on June 6 in the heart of Leipzig, it was all about trying things out, tinkering, being inspired and celebrating together.
Over 110 pupils from 12 partner schools in Leipzig, Leipzig Land and North Saxony presented the results of their work over the course of a school year.
Set up as a MakerSpace, the young people were able to try out programmed online games and apps together with contact persons from schools, business, the Ministry of Culture and the City of Leipzig and be inspired by the diverse applications.
From the coming school year, TechTeens will also be expanding to the region of Eastern Saxony and will also be offering educational programs for rural secondary schools in Pirna, Dohna, Nossen and Elstra.
gAG Berlin:
As in previous years, the digital job fair took place at gAG Berlin in April, where participants from the various programs had the opportunity to talk to exciting companies in Berlin in an uncomplicated way. Many partner companies such as Deutsche Post AG, Profine and Motel One took part. A complete success! At the beginning of May, a basecamp event also took place at which former participants (JOBLINGE alumni) who are currently in training and are supported by basecamp were able to report on their experiences as trainees. Current participants were invited to ask the trainees their questions: “Do you actually need a lot of math to train as an office administrator?”, “Have you ever had stress with a colleague?” For the former participants, it was a special moment to sit on the other side as an expert. Another highlight: the neighborhood festival at Rathaus Schöneberg. This provided an opportunity to network with the various stakeholders in the district. Many conversations were held and JOBLINGE explained what it does. Even Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner visited the gAG Berlin! This time, the project week was also themed “Herbs”. The young people studied various herbs and their positive effects on the body, planted herbs on the JOBLINGE balcony and used them to cook a starter and main course. On the last day of the week, there was a guided tour of an environmental education center and the young people were even allowed to choose a plant to take home with them.
gAG Frankfurt:
Together with the Federal Employment Agency Frankfurt am Main, gAG Frankfurt is now offering the opportunity to take part in a 10-day job camp.
The program was presented directly at the Federal Employment Agency and 10 interested participants registered on the spot.
A success across the board!
The gAG FrankfurtRheinMain management team was also able to accompany Kadim Tas to the FAZ Diversity Summit and attend his presentation on the podium with great interest.
The event was an inspiring platform for discussing diversity and inclusion in the world of work and showed us once again how important our work is in this area.
In recent months, there have also been numerous “Social Days” with well-known companies such as Visa, EY, BNP Paribas and BCG, which were held at basecamp.
The result: beaming young people and impressed volunteers.
The joint activities show that even brief encounters between two worlds can make a decisive difference: Both sides usually react with astonishment to the unexpected enrichment and change their view of the supposed other side.
Another highlight; the presentation by Managing Director Christiane Schubert at the 17th Entrepreneur Forum in Fulda.
Together with experts from the personnel service provider industry, there was a lively discussion about the study “Jugend im StandBy”, which JOBLINGE published in fall 2023 together with the Rheingold Institute. Click here for the study.
gAG Ruhr:
JOBLINGE goes Dortmund – The second quarter at gAG Ruhr was dominated by preparations for the branching of the new location in Dortmund.
Within a very short space of time, discussions were held with the public sector and supporters from the business community, so that the first group can now actually start on July 1.
We are delighted!
The gAG Ruhr was also busy elsewhere and the training fair at basecamp in particular was a complete success.
A total of 19 companies were able to conduct almost 200 job interviews with participants in the JOBLINGE Classic, Kompass and PLAN A programs in May.
The response from all participants was very positive and the companies in particular praised the good preparation and therefore high quality of the individual interviews.
The gAG Ruhr was also a guest at the Innovation Day 2024 at the Zollverein World Heritage Site.
Why is this exchange particularly valuable?
Quite apart from the fact that innovation is firmly anchored in JOBLINGE’s DNA, the particular added value lies in the exchange and interaction with other players from all sectors.
JOBLINGE benefits massively from networking and the exchange of knowledge always helps to achieve even more impact – collective impact at its best.
And with the motto “Creating value with impact”, gAG Ruhr simply couldn’t miss Innovation Day 2024.
It was particularly nice to meet the patron of gAG Ruhr, Mona Neubaur, there.
In her keynote speech, the NRW Minister of Economic Affairs emphasized how important it is for business and innovative forces to work together.
This is the only way we will be able to overcome the challenges posed by the shortage of skilled workers and the green transformation – from both a technical and social perspective.
gAG Rhineland:
The changes at gAG Rheinland continue…
Rheinland will soon have a new Mangaging Director.
The first interviews have already taken place and there is confidence that someone will have been found for this role and will be able to communicate by September.
There have also been changes on the Supervisory Board: former District President Gisela Walsken is now the Chair of the Supervisory Board and is immediately getting to work.
She is actively involved in JOBLINGE’s work.
Thanks to her many years of good contacts in the region in the public and private sectors, JOBLINGE is gaining additional recognition.
In its operating business, gAG Rheinland is currently expanding the school project.
While the Troisdorf location is successfully working with students in Zülpich, other schools are ready to receive support from JOBLINGE.
A school in Cologne will also benefit from our expertise after the summer vacations – the school will be announced shortly.
gAG Munich:
At gAG Munich, some participants have been able to broaden their horizons in recent weeks with exciting company presentations from Hörgeräte Seifert, Gartencenter Seebauer, Polarstern and EMS Studio Jutta Schetting.
This also led to one or two career aspirations, such as sports and fitness specialist.
The young people were also able to take part in two job application days: With the support of volunteers, the participants diligently wrote sample cover letters at Ernst & Young and were able to send out a great many applications in just one morning.
At Amazon, the participants also received professional support in writing application letters (including from the Amazon HR manager in Germany) and took part in exclusive empowerment coaching, which covered topics such as behavioral etiquette in everyday training and dealing with exam anxiety.
Most of the participants from the basic group are already one step further and are pleased to have received many training commitments: from opticians, sign and light advertising manufacturers, office management assistants, childcare workers, sales assistants and paralegals, everything is included.
The training commitments could not be more varied and the skilled workers are urgently needed everywhere.
Congratulations to all of them!
The Social Impact Summit also took place at the Boston Consulting Group at the beginning of June.
When it came to the shortage of skilled workers, the participants’ perspective was of course a must.
Two of the participants took part in the panel discussion and shared their views with us.
You can read more about the event in the article “Social Impact Summit”.
gAG RheinNeckar:
The gAG Metropolregion RheinNeckar looks back on eventful months: In the run-up to the European elections, Managing Director Lavan Sabir welcomed none other than Saskia Esken (Federal Party Chairwoman of the SPD), Isabel Cademartori (Member of the Bundestag, Member of Parliament for the Mannheim constituency), Annalena Wirth, Dr. Sebastian Camarero (both European election candidates) and Dr. Melanie Seidenglanz (honorary city councillor and deputy parliamentary group chairwoman).
The strongest consensus from the joint meeting?
There is a need to promote holistic, evidence- and outcome-based support services for young people!
A clear anchor for discussion?
Our “Jugend im StandBy” study, which once again proved to be a real door opener.
We can also report a major success: PLAN A has been successfully certified, which is why participants from the Jobcenter and the Federal Employment Agency can now also be accepted.
But that’s not all – the basecamp curriculum has begun and the first workshops have met with great enthusiasm from companies.
Particularly popular?
Our in-house training courses.
Last but not least, we would like to introduce the new honorary Senior Advisor of the gAGs Rhine-Neckar and Southwest: Mark von Pentz.
As the former CEO of John Deere and an enthusiastic JOBLINGE mentor, Mr. von Pentz has been supporting the initiative for several years and will be a key driver of #Vision2030 in his new role.
gAG Südwest:
A lot has happened at gAG Südwest in recent months.
We warmly welcome Mark von Pentz as Senior Advisor and look forward to working closely with him in the future!
We also have another reason to celebrate: we are delighted with both the excellent capacity utilization at the Stuttgart location and the success of PLAN A across the entire gAG.
With almost 400 young people, we are a nationwide pioneer in terms of the number of qualified registrations in the PLAN A program.
And we would like to celebrate further by expressing our sincere thanks to three of our partner companies: Firstly, we would like to thank the Vector Foundation, which is laying the foundations for the establishment and expansion of the basecamp not only in the gAG Südwest but also in the gAG Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar through its generous funding of over 137,000 euros for the period from August 2024 to July 2026 inclusive.
We would also like to thank the KIWANIS Foundation.
We came 3rd in the KIWANIS prize for “Jugend macht Zukunft” (Youth creates the future), which was awarded by the foundation under the patronage of Stuttgart’s Lord Mayor Frank Nopper, and were delighted to receive prize money of 2,000 euros.
Last but not least, we would like to thank the Allianz office in Stuttgart for the donation of 2,000 euros, which will be used to finance the language qualification of our participants by an honorary employee.
gAG Hanse:
Our location in Bremen is facing uncertain times.
Due to the tight budget of the Bremen Job Center and the recently announced restrictions on support for jobseekers, our successful work on site is at risk.
Why?
By the middle of the year, a large part of the Jobcenter’s budget for measures and support has already been exhausted, which also affects our work with young people on site.
Without these crucial funds, it will be much more difficult for JOBLINGE Bremen to take on new groups.
This particularly affects young people under the age of 25 who are supported on their way into training and also jeopardizes jobs at JOBLINGE.
We are working hard to find solutions so that we can continue our important work in Bremen.
In this challenging situation, the team continues to show great commitment at the various gAG Hanse locations.
In Hamburg, the “Jobtastings” project was successfully implemented with two IVK classes.
These classes aim to teach pupils the German language and prepare them for the first school-leaving certificate (ESA).
One of the biggest challenges is that the pupils have high career aspirations but are still very disoriented and are not yet familiar with the concept of dual vocational training.
The aim of the job tastings was to provide systematic career guidance and practical experience.
The feedback was consistently positive – a good outlook for future projects.
PLAN A is also continuing successfully in Hamburg and Bremen.
In order to activate even more participants, street approaches are currently being used again.
The encouragement of corporate partners such as Union Investment, Barclays and the Julius Baer Foundation is a great support, both financially and through active cooperation.
