Hiba Mahrouk loves new challenges every day during her training as a medical assistant.
In this interview, she reveals how she got there and why she recommends young people to do an apprenticeship.
Hiba is one of ten Leipzig JOBLINGE alumni that we are presenting on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of JOBLINGE gAG Leipzig.
Hiba, you are currently training to become a medical assistant (MFA) in Leipzig.
How did you get there?
I always wanted to work in the medical field!
But I was new to Germany and first spent over a year learning the language.
Then I applied to JOBLINGE and got a lot of help there.
For example, to understand the difference between an apprenticeship and a degree course.
I did an internship in a doctor’s practice to get to know the job of an MFA.
The internship showed me: This is the profession I want to learn!
What do you particularly enjoy about your apprenticeship?
The variety!
I work in a general practitioner’s practice, and every day there are new challenges and new clinical pictures: whether in the laboratory doing medical tasks such as taking blood samples or writing ECGs, at reception, dealing with patient files or invoicing.
These different tasks are what I enjoy!
Why is it important to do an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship gives us trainees many opportunities and advantages.
As an apprentice, I can gain very good qualifications, I can do further training, learn and earn money at the same time.
I can gain a lot of practical experience and as an apprentice you can make a mistake without being dismissed straight away.
You can find your own way through training.
You are often taken on by the company, your job is guaranteed – what else do I need?
Thank you very much for the interview and good luck with your training!
