JOBLINGE alumna: Franziska Schwendler – Businesswoman for dialog marketing

Which profession suits me?
It’s not easy to find out.
How our alumna Franziska Schwendler found the right career for her and what role her young daughter played in her journey.
Franziska is one of ten Leipzig JOBLINGE alumni who we are introducing on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of JOBLINGE gAG Leipzig.

How did you get to your apprenticeship?

I already had some professional experience at the time – I had worked as a baker and done internships in nurseries, for example.
But none of these jobs were for me.

I then took an interest test at JOBLINGE – that was the deciding factor for me, because the test showed: Working as an office administrator could suit me.
I then got to know a lot of companies at a trainee fair and became aware of the “dialog marketing clerk” apprenticeship.
I then applied directly to a large telecommunications company and was accepted, even without an internship!

What was difficult for you along the way?

At the time, I was a single mother of a two-year-old daughter in Leipzig and sometimes had to be at the vocational school in Chemnitz for up to four weeks at a time.
During that time, I was only at home at weekends and had to leave my child with my family during the working week.
This would never have been possible without my family and I missed my daughter incredibly!

What do you particularly enjoy about your job?

I now work in a physiotherapy practice and take care of appointments and billing.
I enjoy the mixture of everything and the variety!
I never know exactly what my next working day will look like.
That keeps it exciting.

Why is it important to do an apprenticeship?

As a trained specialist, you earn more money and it’s easier to find a job.
You can offer your children something!
I also wanted to be a role model for my daughter.
It was clear to me that I wanted her to be proud of me.
