The war against Ukraine continues and for refugees from Ukraine its course and their future are uncertain. Integration into the labor market is an important issue – both for the refugees and for the German economy and society. Nevertheless, they often face numerous challenges and hurdles in their search for employment and apprenticeships.
Since 2022, work4u we support refugees from Ukraine as they arrive in Germany and enter the labor market. Our aim is to provide quick and unbureaucratic support in overcoming the hurdles into labor market integration and the search for an apprenticeship.
More and more refugees are completing language and integration courses, which should make it easier for them to enter the job market. However, the reality shows that the need for support in integrating into the labor market and finding a training position is still very much needed- and will continue to increase as the war continues.
The young refugees continue to be faced with challenges that hinder their access to the job market. Long and bureaucratic recognition processes of degrees, not having knowledge of the german job and apprenticeship market, not sufficient knowledge of the german language (due to the lack of language courses and traumatic experiences hindering the gaining of knowledge) and insecurities due to bureaucracy and legislation.
A few weeks after the start of the attack on Ukraine, we and our partners created the first support services with work4u.

A few weeks after Russia launched its war of aggression against Ukraine, we bundled our labor market support for Ukrainian refugees on our work4u platform: The focus was on native-language counseling, volunteers as language tandems and for initial orientation, and a range of workshops specifically designed to help refugees start their careers in Germany. The task now is to make this offering permanent and continue to meet the high demand.
